TOP TEN NIGERIAN COMMERCIALS ON AIR RIGHT NOW

TOP 10 ADVERTS FOR THIS MONTH

This past month witnessed the debut of many ADS. Some made us ask for more so much so that we watched the TV regularly just to catch the glimpse of them. While the TV stations aired, we watched and have come up with the TOP 10 list for this month.

10 DETTOL ANTICEPTIC (good health is in our hands)

This AD is educative and makes you want to wash your hands. Nice stuff.

09 – ALWAYS SANITRY PAD (good to go)

This AD landed this spot mostly because of the choreography. The AD as a whole was well done and finished well.

08 – MTN FAMILY AND FRIENDS (husband and wife)

The story line was well played out and we enjoy watching this elderly couple have differences on who they will prefare to be on their family and friends list.

07 – TOM TOM (I gbadun the tom tom)

The fact that they were trying to sell us voice clearity with a guy in the studio doing his thing the Nigerian way is a plus.

06 – PANADOL EXTRA (truck driver)

We love the song and we sing along always. We love the comic relief it brings with it and we laugh each time we watch it. We love this AD and the fact that its being on air for quit a while doesn’t really bother us because we are not yet tired of it.

05 – ETISALAT (N10000 FREE CREDIT)

This AD is not fantastic but people just love it since it started to air recently.

04 – TOP TEA (LONDON TEA)

This AD really really make sense and is sure to sell the product. The concept is just unique. You know, I just might ask for toptea if I visit London during winter.

03 – INDOMIE ( mama do good)

What more can we say about this one? Guess children who are happy because they just had indomie makes us happy.

02 – OVALTINE (walking on sunshine)

‘ am walking on sunshine oh oh…..’ bringing back that Canadian hit song from the 80s is a smart move.

01 – VICKS (speak up Nigeria)

The first impression when you watch this AD for the first time is ‘aaawwwwwww.’ No long story. No unnecessary plots. Cristal clear picture. Superb audio quality. This AD is excellent.

OVALTIN – WALKING ON SUNSHINE

OVALTIN – WALKING ON SUNSHINE

FIRST THOUGH….

Hmmmn nice. This ad makes since.

JUST SO YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT

Music starts to play the a second later, children (about20 of them star to sing the Canadian ‘walking on sunshine’ hit from the 80’s. as the children sing, they clap, wave their hands and move their body to the rhythm of the song as the tell us the ovaltine is rich in coco, milk sugar, vitality and taste.they

SCORE: 7/10

With ads like this, we won’t have to complain at all. This ad is simple and singable. Children who watch it want to see it again and end up humming the tune which is a good thing since the ad is targeted at them so they are sure to demand ovaltine from their mums.

A LITTLE INFO.

The ad was contracted out to JWT South Africa but shot in Nigeria. Since the company had a branch in Nigeria, getting materials and logistics was not a problem but the concept was from South Africa. No wonder it’s that good.

IF YOU LIKE IT..

Then you liked indomie’s make the world a better place and mama do good.

VICKS BLUE – GIVING NIGERIA A VOICE

VICKS BLUE – GIVING NIGERIA A VOICE

FIRST THOUGHT

Aaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww! Isn’t that nice?

JUST SO YOU HAVE NOT SEEN IT

It’s hard to describe this ad bit by bit as it unfolds because from start to finish, there is suspense and intrigue. You see, this ad is a combination of clips shot together and what these clips have in common is that they show people like us who need our clear voices to go about our daily lives. From the man who is excited and shouting to the world on a clif to the trader selling her wears to the over joye father whose wife has just been delivered of a baby girl to screaming football match spectators to the banker presenting in a board meeting to school children shouting the answer to the singer. Vicks believes in the power of the voice.

SCORE: 8/10

Never thought that the concept taking some sweets to soothe the voice can be taken this seriously. This ad just takes the idea to a completely new level. Nice one. The picture quality was cool. The sound – mcrystal. In fact, this ad in 46 seconds achieves so much. The clips of different Nigerians who need a clear voice to go about their daily life sold the concept of a clear voice. The concept of a clear voice sells the produnct. Am still not over this ad oh!

IF YOU LIKE IT……..

Then you liked the planta TV ad in the 80s, skye Bank’s I wish and all the prequals

ALWAYS (GOOD TO GO)

ALWAYS (GOOD TO GO)

JUST SO YOU’VE NOT SEEN IT

This ad opens with a class room scene that has a teacher and female students only. The teacher asks the girls if they are good to go for the day then the singing girls begin to tell us that tissue in not good to go but always is good to go as they run out singing, dancing throwing tissue papers and demonstrating how always works for up to 8 hours long so that they can stay happy always.

A LITTLE INFO

The advert critic is not yet sure which company handled the ad but will let you know as soon as he does. This particular ad was shot at a secondary school Lagos Nigeria and took a couple of days to get done.

SCORE: 7/10

Great singing voices, great choreography, beautiful girls. You could just watch it on and on even if you are a guy. The use of props is also on point (by the way, am still loving the 8 hour clock) at least, girls can now stay happy always.

IF YOU LIKE IT……

Then you definably like all the prequels.

CAPPY FRUIT JUICE (SOME MEE TIME)

CAPPY FRUIT JUICE (SOME MEE TIME)

FIRST THOUGHT

NICE ONE! Now every working class married mum will want to get this product and since in most cases, they do the grocery shopping, this add sells the product. Every woman will love this advert

JUST SO YOU’VE NOT SEEN IT

This lovely woman tells us how tedious or rather hectic it is to combine her day job with those of a mother, wife and home maker but she gets a little help from CAPPY JUICE. How? She simply creates a ‘me’ time with CAPPY and that helps her relax a lot since CAPPY is filled with natural nutrients and freshness so she is able to carry on and also tell her husband how good he is at his one job.

A LITTLE INFO

The AD was handled by Primer Garnet and shot in Lagos.

SCORE: 5/10

The message is passed in a simple, real and easy manner that the point is driven home and the message is passed. The recording and the miming of the voice was also well done so much so that one will think she was talking live and not miming. No doubt this add will sell the product as I myself have found myself looking for CAPPY Juice when I was stressed and needed a little ‘me’ time.LOL

IF YOU LIKE IT…..

…. Then you like Panadol extra with the truck driver and his family, Etisalat easy click and many more.

ONGA DIRTY HANDS

ONGA DIRTY HANDS

FIRST THOUGHT

‘oooook! What exactly is this advert about? Is it about the food seasoning or about dirty hands? Or are they trying to tell us that no matter how dirty your hands are Or where they have been, when you use ONGA, your food is already disinfected? I really don’t get it and neither does anyone I have come across yet. Or do you?

JUST SO UVE NOT SEEN IT

The ad opens with hands; different people’s hands doing all sorts of things like throwing away stuff in the trash, flush the toilet, cleaning food from the mouth and other stuff to show us all the possible un-hygienic places our hands might have been meanwhile a fist time watcher of the ad will Have no idea its food seasoning that is been advertised. One at that point would have thought the message of the ad was to promote washing of hands when all of a sudden, ONGA crashes the party from the nowhere and the confusion sets in so you begin to wonder if this ad is about washing of hands or food seasoning and why isn’t there a scene where the woman (Kate Henshaw-Nuttal I suppose) putting ONGA seasoning in her food washes her hands first?

SCORE: 2/10

I STILL DONT GET THE MAIN POINT OF THIS AD AND THINK IT SHOULD BE REPACKAGED. Let the relevant companies please let us know what the aim of this ad is because it is not selling the product at all.

IF YOU LIKE IT

I doubt if any like this ad that much but just so you fancy it, you will like STARTIMES, Panadol cold and catarrh, PREDICT TEST KIT and FLUKOR DAY adverts.
